What is Beta Glucan?

Even though beta glucan is available in food items mentioned above, it is difficult to extract the required amount that is needed for our body. Hence, scientists found a way of producing beta glucan effectively and afford ably from brewers yeast and oats. Both these items are used in brewing beer and the yeast is thrown away after the beer is brewed. This gave value to the brewers yeast that was thrown away and a beta glucan supplement was produced for an affordable and reasonable price.

Beta glucan supplements are inexpensive and very effective. There are yeast glucan and mushroom glucan supplements available currently. Mushroom glucan capsules are more expensive than the yeast variety. The beta glucan capsule should contain at least 200mg of actual beta glucan for best results. 200mg of the beta glucan extract is not the same as 200mg of actual beta glucan. Always request for 200mg "actual beta glucan" capsules when choosing a beta glucan supplement. 200mg is the recommended dosage per day. Although it is classified as "Generally Recognized as Safe" by the FDA, it is still better to consult your physician before taking a beta glucan supplement regularly.

There are so many reasons to start taking a beta glucan supplement on a daily basis. It is a wonderful ingredient available in our day to day food items. Great for a healthy lifestyle.
