The Best Healthy Snacks!

When it comes to the things we eat, the saying is true: you are what you eat.  While we may be eating pretty healthy in terms of meals, what about when we just want something light to snack on? What is something that is still good for your health?  Let’s take a closer look at the answer to these questions.

To begin when it comes to something we choose to snack on, it goes without saying that there are a variety of foods to choose from.  Depending on what type of food you want, or the desired result.  For example do you want something juicy, something crunchy, something with carbs to help in burning calories?  Something high in vitamins and minerals or something to give you an energy boost?

They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away.  And that has some value in it.  Fruits like apples, oranges, and grapes hold a barrage of vitamins and help in energy according to Choice Public.  The skins of most fruits like apples, grapes, pears, and peaches can help in digestion, and the vitamins help in healthy bones, joints, and blood flow.  Also, fruits can help in the speeding up and maintenance of your metabolism.

While fruits are good for your health, you do not have to always or only choose from fruits.  There are many other snacks that are part of a balanced diet, and can be quite healthy as well.  Take for example pretzels, and rice cakes.  These are high in fiber, and provide the grain that we need in our diets.  Also many rice cakes come in a variety of flavors and usually contain no calories.  Pretzels also can be covered in yogurt and even some chocolates to add energy, help in digestion, and still be a healthy snack for the healthy eater.

What about if you need a more liquid diet?  There are many yogurts that are available the help in production of good bacteria that aid in stomach protection and digestion, and puddings and jello can be a good aid in health too.

All in all, it is not impossible to find healthy snacks, you just have to look a little harder, and you would be surprised at the wide array of foods available to snack on.  That goes for whatever you are in the mood for, and the results can be quite satisfying for all. Enjoy!
